Featured Client: Pacific Lutheran University

Within the last two years, the higher education industry and web video providers have forged a close relationship. An ability to cost-effectively showcase a campus, reach a target audience, and canvas large numbers are among prevailing reasons why streaming video has appealed to recruiters across the country.

A recent re-launch of Pacific Lutheran University's website is a perfect example of the trend's continuation. In this case, a small-sized, West Coast liberal arts college came to an Atlanta-based media company, Realview TV, determined to broaden its reach.

Months later, the end result was a finely tuned, interactive video package sent out through PLU's website, which also underwent a few tweaks.

"Like other higher education clients, PLU really wanted to showcase its appealing strengths, while allowing the prospective student the opportunity to visualize life on the campus," said Courtney Cable, Realview TV's vice president education channel.

Five chapters - ranging from "Your New Home" to "The Arts" - each have a series of videos with user-friendly features that browsers control at their pace. Real students are the faces of each video segment - a move authenticating the viewing experience.

"We were really delighted with the outcome," said Cable. "It really says something for our efforts when we are being recruited from Washington State to help."
